With support of the DFG, Technische Universität Darmstadt has established a publishing fund in order to assist its members and affiliated researchers in the publication of scientific articles in open access journals. The combination of an ongoing initial funding by the DFG with its own resources from the library’s budget creates a permanent infrastructure for financing publication costs at the TU Darmstadt. In the medium term only, the fund will be covered completely by the library's budget for acquisitions.Fees for the publication of scientific papers in quality-controlled, genuine open access journals can be financed from the fund. The project is part of several ongoing and planned initiatives and measures at the university, which support and ensure the transformation of the academic publishing culture to an open access model organizationally as well as technically and economically.
