1 研究目的本研究では、帰国児童の日本語力、とりわけ読解力を向上させるために、基礎読解カリキュラムと多読型教材を開発する。2 研究方法(1)日本語力把握平成16・17年度に文部科学省委嘱事業で研究委員として「補習授業校のための日本語力判断基準表」をベースにしながら読解力判断基準を開発した。(2)読解力向上のための多読型教材の開発の視点読解力向上のために、多くの日本語教材にふれることが大切であると考え、以下のような視点で、教材開発に取り組んだ。ア 国語の教科書を使った教材であること帰国児童が、国語の時間の授業内容を理解するためには、最も効果的な方法であると考えた。イ だれでもいつでもすぐに使える教材であることだれが使っても使えるような汎用性のある教材が有用であると考えた。(3)教科書リライト教材の開発ア 教材選定小学校国語教科書(東京書籍)の2年生から4年生の教材の中から、物語文、説明文を5単元選び、それを児童のレベルに応じて、表現をやさしくし書き直していく(リライト)方法をとった。リライトするにあたっては、「内容は学年レベル、表現はやさしく」に特に留意した。イ 開発した教材一覧開発した教科書リライト教材は以下の通りである。2年「名前を見てちょうだい」(物語文)2年「たんぽぽ」(説明文)3年「盲導犬の訓練」(説明文)4年「世界一美しいぼくの村」(物語文)4年「ウミガメの住むはまを守る」3 成果実際に帰国児童への取り出し指導等で、本研究で開発した教材を使用した。その結果、読みに対する抵抗感が薄くなり、内容読解の大きな助けになることが確かめられた。
