1 研究目的東海地方の国府型ナイフ形石器と近畿地方の国府型ナイフ形石器の形態差を検討し、東海地方への国府型ナイフ形石器の流入による石器群多様化の原因を解明する。2 研究方法(1)静岡・岐阜両県出土の国府型ナイフ形石器と、奈良県出土の国府型ナイフ形石器の器体角度を比較した。また、参考資料として岡山県恩原遺跡、及び三重県出土の国府型ナイフ形石器の器体角度も測定した。(2)静岡・岐阜両県で、在地形態のナイフ形石器と国府型ナイフ形石器の中間形態を示すナイフ形石器を抽出し、中間形態を示す石器が生まれた技術的要因を検討した。(3)静岡・岐阜両県で、国府型ナイフ形石器の流入に伴い、形態が多様化した石器群を整理して理解する方法を検討した。3 研究成果(1)東海地方では、国府型と呼べるナイフ形石器は少なく、代わりに在地形態と国府型の中間形態を示すナイフ形石器を多く抽出できた。また、角錐状石器とナイフ形石器の中間形態を示す石器も認められた。(2)国府型ナイフ形石器の流入に伴う石器群多様化の原因は、上記の中間形態を示す石器の出現にあると理解した。(3)中間形態を示す石器は、製作途中で、対立する属性の変換によって発生することを突き止めた。(4)石器群の多様性は、在地形態のナイフ形石器、国府型ナイフ形石器、角錐状石器の三者が、それぞれ中間形態の石器を経由して形態が循環する構造を作っていると考えることで、整理できるとした。
