1 研究目的これまで帰国子女、外国人児童の指導に関わってきて現場の課題として痛切に感ずる所は文科省の示す国語力の課題に示されるように総合的な「ことばの力」の不足である。これを「読書」と「資料活用」という二つの視点から学校図書館と高校生・大学生(教育学部)の教育力を生かすことによって児童生徒の国語力(ことばの力)の育成と支援の方策を研究する。生徒の実態に即して、具体的に活用できる教育方法を開発しようとするのが、この研究の目的である。また、学校の教育力を地域に還元する試みでもある。2 研究方法大学、高等学校の教育力を用いて地域の外国人児童生徒の言語学習と教科学習の支援プログラムの研究開発を教科教育の支援を中心に指導実践を通して研究をおこなった。一日、4時間総計20時間を要して教科学習支援の実験的授業を展開し、教科学習の有効な支援のあり方を研究した。また、7言語に及ぶ児童生徒の実態に即した指導方法を探求した。指導に当たっては、埼玉大学大学院の院生、地域市町村の外国人指導教員の協力を得ることで多角的な支援のプログラムの構成を作り上げた。3 研究成果外国児童生徒の学習支援が現場において重要性を増していることは、このプログラムに対する義務教育教師の切実な声からも切実に感じられた。また、学校教育、地域教育とも外国人児童生徒の教科学習支援が不十分であり、このような支援プログラムが求められている現状であり、この研究の持つ意義の重要性がある。児童生徒はそれぞれの学校で外国人児童として孤の状態にあるが、このような教室では同じ仲間がいる安堵感から精神の安定感を得たり、学習意欲に大きく繋がることが確認された。また、市町村の日本語学習支援に欠けている教科教育の支援部分を補うという大きな意味を持っている。
