1研究目的海外在留児童生徒数が5万4千を超える中で、帰国子女教育は帰国後の支援教育が中心である。しかし、帰国渡航を環状的に繰り返す生徒が増加している。この研究の被験者もマレーシアで8年半生活し、日本の高校1年1学期の段階で上海へ渡航した。このような生徒の言語支援をどのように行うかに研究の目的がある。学習者の母語の保持と思考力・表現力の育成及び、その指導方法の開発に取り組んだ。2研究方法読書を通した論説文作成支援を電子メールを活用し、ユビキタス社会における公教育の支援策を言語(国語)教育の立場から探求したものである。具体的には、月一回のペースで岩波ジュニア新書・岩波新書を読んで論説文を作成し往復書簡ノートを作成する方法をとった。研究当初から現在まで15回の往復をつづけ、双方で30回の往復書簡ノートが完成している。現在も継続中であり、来年度現地校修了まで継続の予定である。7月には、言語環境および学習状況調査のため上海に渡り、本人両親と懇談しこれまでの学習状況、今後の学習の進め方について相談をもった。また、現地校ならびに現地図書館、教育施設等の視察を通して日本語学習環境を調査した。これらを踏まえて9月以降の教材および支援内容の転換を図った。3研究成果遠距離の帰国子女言語指導の方法の一つとして今回の研究が十分に機能することを確認した。多様さを抱えた帰国子女言語支援ツールとして有効な方策であると考える。開始当初は、文意や語彙の誤りも多く稚拙さが目立ったが、後半は十分に自己の意見を踏まえた文章作成ができるようになり、返信内容も意見内容の相互交換に重きを置くようになった。一回A4版程度の分量の文章を批判検討を加えた上で、自己の考えを論理的に述べることができるようになった。現在、高校2年生相当学年に属するが、その思考力、論理的文章作成能力のレベルは教養課程の大学生に引けを取らないまでに向上している。
