本研究の目的は、異文化理解のプロセスを体系化することである。これから国際人として生徒が成長していくためには、ある程度の知識を得た上で、実際に異文化を体験することにより、文献や伝聞だけでは得ることのできない知識を持つことができる。知識なく異文化の中に入ることも考えられるが、それでは体系づけられた学習として整理することは難しい。そこで本研究では、平成19年度行われた韓国調査旅行を実践研究の題材とした。本調査旅行に際して行われた事前学習・事後学習がどのように調査に結び付いているのかを、生徒のフィードワークの足跡をたどることによって、データを収集することを目的とする。学習体系は、事前調査・フィールドワーク・論文作成の3つで構成させる。そして本学習体系の特徴としてあげられるのは、事前調査の充実である。約1年間をかけて、韓国人講師を招いて、言葉さることながら、韓国から見た日本の文化や慣習、日本に対する感情などの講義に多くの時間をついやした。また、今回の異文化の対象である韓国は、地理的にも歴史的にも日本と関係が深い。異文化を理解する上で自国の文化を理解することを欠かすことはできないと考え、韓国という題材で「韓・国の中の日本」を調査することにした。歴史的な事象の調査が多くなることを予想したが、実際には食事・工業製・音楽など様々なものが題材となった。フィールドワークでは、釜山・慶州でそれぞれ1日半ほどの時間を調査することができた。この調査時間に約30%の生徒が調査時間に不十分であったと答えている。また、4,5人のグループ行動での調査を実施を予定していたが、実際の調査ではある地点までグループで移動し、その地点で解散し各自調査を行っていたようである。確かにこの方法のほうが十分な調査を行うことができるが、安全面を考えると改良する必要があると思われる。改善方法として、グループ調査やテーマを統一するなどの方法が考えられる。最後に、論文作成であるが事前調査・学習とフィールドワークを比較する調査結果が多く、その中でも大半が、事前調査を否定するものであった。これは韓国の情報が日本に入る際に、何らかのフィルタリングが行われているとする見解であった。このことにより、文献や伝聞では知ることのできない文化があることが生徒に理解させることができた。また最後のアンケート調査でも、実際に行って調査をすることの大切さを理解した生徒が82%であった。
