「研究目的」モニタリング手法の検討を行う為の基礎データを収集するため、平成19年度に淡路島沿岸海城において藻類植生の調査を行った。その結果、4地点のうち2地点(由良、津井)において出現種数の大幅な減少や特定の種の顕著な減少が見られ、継続的な調査が必要であると考えられた。従って本研究は、これら2地点について継続的に調査を行い、種数や被度の減少の原因を明らかにすると共に、長期的なモニタリングのための手法(プロトコル)の検討を行なうことを目的とする。「研究方法」調査地の由良、津井において、6月と3月に海藻類の任意採集を約3,200m^2(縦20m×横160m)の範囲で行う。また、長さ20m程度の調査測線を設置し、測線に沿ってランダムに10個の方形枠(50cm×50cm)を置き、枠内の海藻類の種類や優占度を調査する枠取り調査を行う。但し、由良は10枠、津井は5枠とする。その他、カジメ生態追跡調査を淡路島周辺で行う。「研究成果」海藻類の任意採集の結果、由良では6月は42種、3月は55種、津井では6月は46種、4月は58種が確認できた。昨年度の調査結果と比較して、6月の種数は2地点とも変わらなかったが、3月では由良においては4種ほど減っていた。また、枠取り調査の結果、どちらの調査地においても、潮間帯上部から中部にかけて枠内に出現する種数の増加(約10種)が見られ、中部から下部にかけて緩やかな種数の減少が見られた。一方、カジメについては、淡路島全域の10地点で生育が確認されたものの、淡路島中南部の播磨灘沿岸においては、生育個体を見つけ出すのが困難な程、その数が限られていた。今後、由良、津井における定点調査と合わせ、カジメについても追跡調査を行う必要があると考えている。
