本研究は、夜間定時制高校に在籍している生徒のうち、非行歴や犯罪歴のある者へのさまざまな問題に接近しようとした研究である。高等学校では、不登校やいじめ経験をはじめとする不適応や何らかの病理や障害を抱えた生徒について、臨床心理学の専門的知見を用いたスクールカウンセラー等の支援によって、有効な手立てがなされつつある。一方、非行歴や犯罪歴のある生徒については、一般の高等学校では排除の対象であったりすることが多いのも事実である。カウンセリング領域においても、教育モデルというよりは司法矯正モデルであるべきという見方があるためか、必要とされる支援が不十分であるという現状でもあり、夜間定時制高校で学ぼうとする非行歴や犯罪歴のある生徒の情緒や行動の理解を促進するための研究を行うことには意義があると考えた。筆者は、在学中に医療少年院に措置された生徒との心理面接過程を通した研究を行なった。生徒は「妹に暴力をふるい逮捕されたが、逮捕された時期が近づくと胸が苦しくなってきて、気分が沈んだり、フラッシュバックが起きる」という主訴で来談した。生徒が卒業するまでの約6ヶ月間の50回の面接について実践的研究を進めた。面接は逐語録をつくり、精神分析的心理療法士とのスーパービジョンという形で議論を進め、この生徒の行動や情緒に関する理解を深めるとともに、そこでは生徒と筆者との間に生じた転移や逆転移をもとにした理解を進めた。精神分析的な理解や臨床心理学的な知見を用いて、指導にあたる教員が非行歴や犯罪歴のある生徒の情緒や行動を理解しようとしたことは、おそらく生徒にとっては受容された経験でもあったであろう。また、心理療法を通して、非行歴や犯罪歴のあるこの生徒が、自らも被虐待経験者であることもわかった。さらに、矯正施設としての医療少年院生活での経験の意義についても考えることができた。
