项目摘要

本研究は、これまで検定教科書では系統的に扱われていなかったと思われる句動詞について、コーパスを活用し意味及び用法を演繹的な学習を通してどれくらい学習者に定着させていくことができるかいうことを目的としている。研究対象は中学3年生の少人数学級(60名)とし、イギリス・アメリカ英語コーパスより分析された上位1位～50位までの句動詞を扱った。これらの句動詞について英語から日本語で意味を書くプレテストを実施し学習者の演繹的学習を取り入れる前の語彙の意味上の習得状況を把握した。本研究の意義は英米の使用頻度上位50語の句動詞に焦点を当て、学習者にとって英文を読む際に未習語の割合が少なくギャップが少ないウェブコーパスを活用した教材開発を行い句動詞の演繹的学習を実践したことにある。また、コーパスを活用して学習者自らが句動詞を含む英文を読むことによって、英文の意味把握の類推能力、句動詞の用法について把握する力を養うことである。コーパスを活用したワークシートは、プレテストにより、学習者にとって語彙の意味を理解することが難しいと考えられる語に焦点を絞り次のことを考慮して作成した。単なる英文の意味把握だけに留まらず、「ことば」の振る舞いを理解するために句動詞を中心としたコロケーションについて把握できるようなタスクを用いた。この演繹的学習は男女各2名、計4人のグループで行い、句動詞の「ことば」の使い方の特徴についてグループ学習を通して行い、各グループからの発表をクラスで共有し深い学びが行えるように心がけた。ポストテストでは、プレテスト段階では約1割しか理解できていなかった句動詞について、約7割の正答率が得られる結果となった。これまでの教授法とは異なり教師中心の授業形態から学習者を中心としたコーパスを活用した演繹的学習により、学習者の句動詞習得率の実証研究することができたことは大きな成果と言える。
