本研究の目的は,統計的推論力の育成を目指した小学校低学年の学習プログラムを開発し,その有効性を検証することである。統計的推論力とは,2つ以上の統計概念を関連づけて統計に関する情報を理解したり,理由を説明したりする能力のことである。本研究では,統計概念の中でも,特に,分布の概念に着目する。研究方法は,まず,国内外の統計指導に関する先行研究から児童・生徒の統計的推論力の育成に関する課題を明確化した。具体的には,統計的推論力の育成が叫ばれている一方で,初等教育段階において統計的推論力に関する児童の実態やその力を育成する学習指導についての研究が殆どなされていないことを指摘した。次に,統計的推論力の育成を目指す統計教材(「乳歯の脱落数」を題材とした統計教材と「血液型」を題材とした統計教材)を開発し,分布を推論したり,表現したり,比較したりする活動を取り入れた単元を設計し,小学校第2学年と第3学年の児童を対象に実験授業を実施した。さらに,授業記録並びに児童の記述を分析した。結果として,以下の4点が明らかとなった。第一に,児童が変動を意識することで対象を1つの集合として捉える見方を発揮できる点である。こうした見方は,統計的推論力の発揮を支える土台とも言える。第二に,児童がグラフづくりを通して統計的推論力を高められる点である。第三に,児童が範囲や度数などの分布の要素を踏まえて,グラフから分布の中心について考えることができる点である。第四に,児童が,グラフを用いて分布を推測することで,複数の分布の観点に着目したり,それら観点を関連づけたりするなど,より質の高い統計的推論力を発揮できる点である。これらの児童の実態から,本研究で設計,実践した学習プログラムの教育的意義として,小学校低学年から分布に対する素地的な概念を構成できることが示唆される。分布の概念の構成は,算数・数学科における統計指導のカリキュラムの系統性を創る新たな視点にもなり得る。

The purpose of this study is to investigate the development and effectiveness of statistical inference in primary school learning.
