本研究は、近世美術から近代美術の端境期、つまり明治時代初期の江戸狩野派の動静を明らかにすることを目的にした。先行研究では、江戸狩野派が明治政府に出仕する点についてすでに指摘されているため、これまで考察されてこなかった身分的処遇等を中心に調査研究を行った。具体的には、江戸時代、幕臣(旗本)であった江戸狩野派奥絵師四家のうち中橋宗家、木挽町家、浜町家が朝臣化幕臣となった点について、近代行政史の先行研究をふまえつつ、明治時代の同時代史料、行政文書を調査し、明らかにした。先の三家は、多くの幕臣と同様、明治時代初期に徳川宗家のもとを離れ朝臣化幕臣となり、政府や東京府より禄を賜った。「太政類典」より明治元年には先の三家が「行政官支配」の朝臣化幕臣となったこと、東京都公文書館が所蔵している「朝臣姓名」「府限願伺留」より明治2年に東京府の管轄下になり、「士族」に位置付けられたことを初めて明らかにした。この研究成果については『埼玉県立歴史と民俗の博物館紀要』9号に論文「江戸狩野派の明治初期の動静について」を執筆・掲載し、報告した。また、海軍省に出仕した江戸狩野派の動静を研究するため防衛省防衛研究所、徳川宗家に帰順した江戸狩野派鍛冶橋家の動静を確認するため静岡県立中央図書館歴史文化情報センター、海軍省のなかで狩野派絵師の上司にあたる柳楢悦の基礎研究のため三重県立博物館で、明治時代初期の行政文書を中心に調査を行った。

This study aims at the development of modern art from the beginning of Meiji era to the end of modern art. The first research was conducted in the center of investigation and research, such as the investigation of the identity of the Meiji government. Specific examples include the Edo period, the Muchen (flag text), the Edo Kano school, the four families of the Okushi, the Nakabashi family, the Kimamachi family, the Hamamachi family, the advanced research of modern administrative history, the Meiji period, the contemporary historical materials, the investigation of administrative documents, and the Ming Dynasty. In the early Meiji period, Tokugawa's family was separated from the courtiers, and the government and Tokyo's government were given the same salary. "Taizheng class code" The results of this research were published in "Saitama History and Folklore Museum Notes" No. 9, paper "Edo Kano School and the Early Meiji Movement", and report. The Ministry of Defense Defense Research Institute, Tokugawa Muneka, and the Ministry of the Navy conducted research on the activities of the Edo Kano School and the Shizuoka Central Library's historical and cultural information center, the Ministry of the Navy's director of the Edo Kano School, and the administrative document center in the early Meiji era.
