本研究では、途上国の極小企業研究が実務重視の立場から研究を技術化・専門分化していくなかで欠落させてきた広範な政治経済的枠組を再構築することを目的として、アジアやラテン・アメリカにおいて近年展開されている「柔軟な専門化」論のアフリカ経済に対する適用可能性を検討した。ここにいう「柔軟な専門化」論は、先進国での景気後退に始まる世界的工業再編成の中で、新生産技術に基づいて需要の細分化に柔軟に対応した多品種少量生産型の小企業が地域的に集積してきたことに注目して、こうした企業群の特徴を論じるものである。本研究では、「柔軟な専門化」論を展開してきた各分野について焦点をアフリカに絞り、とくにアングロ=サクソン系諸国における関連文献の収集を試みた。その結果、第1に、「柔軟な専門化」論が行われ始めて10年程が経過したにもかかわらず、アフリカ研究においてはこの概念を中心に据えた極小企業研究は依然として少数例に留まっていることがわかった。これは、アジアやラテン・アメリカとは異なり、アフリカ諸国が世界経済において周辺的立場にあることからもある程度予想されたことであった。第2に、アフリカでは小生産論(インフォーマル・セクター論)、極小企業論、在来技術論・適正技術論・中間技術論など、従来の問題関心の延長線上に位置づけられる研究の数が依然として多いこと、そして近年の経済危機がアフリカ社会に与える影響を検討する文献が多いことが明らかとなった。収集した文献のなかに、極小企業を社会全体とその変動に関連づけて理解する視点が含まれているかどうかを、引き続き検討していかなければならない。また、本年度に研究代表者が別途行ったケニア現地調査より、小企業の地域的集積を理解するには小企業がその場で再生産される歴史的過程の検討が不可欠であることが明らかだが、今後は単一時点での企業研究だけでなくこの点も含めて考察を進めて行く。

This study examines the applicability of the "soft door" theory developed in recent years, which focuses on the research of small enterprises in the future. This paper discusses the characteristics of enterprise groups in the process of industrial reorganization of the world, the need for segmentation of new production technologies, the flexibility of small enterprises with multi-variety and small-volume production, and the geographical integration. This study is aimed at exploring the "soft door" theory and collecting related literature from different fields. The results, the first part, the "soft door" theory, the beginning of the 10-year process, the concept of the center, the research of the very small enterprise, and the few cases of the study. This is the first time that the United States has been involved in international trade. Second, the number of studies on small production theory, minimal enterprise theory, current technology theory, appropriate technology theory, intermediate technology theory, and the position of future problems on the wiring board is still large, and there are many literatures on the impact of recent economic crisis on society. The collection of literature, small enterprises, society as a whole, the movement of the relationship between the point of view, including the introduction of information, etc. This year, the research representatives conducted on-site surveys to understand the geographical accumulation of small businesses, and to examine the process of small business reproduction history. In the future, they will conduct on-site surveys to further their research.
