本研究の最終目的である「『国家』篇第一巻における「術の類比」の歪みとその射程」を明らかにするため、平成10年度においては、対話を構成する「問いと答え」を語る語り(logos)の異なりに着目し、ソクラテスの探求の営みの構造を解明することを中心課題とした。具体的には、次の2項目に重点を置くこととなった。(1)平成9年度における研究成果を基に、「正義の技術 ー 『国家』篇第一巻における正義の語り ー」(静岡大学人文学部『人文論集』No.49-1、81頁-136頁(56頁)、1998/7/31)の論述を行い、以下の3点についての考察を行った。即ち、正義を語る「語り」の探求を基軸に、a)対話篇全体における第一巻の位置づけ、b)正義を人間の徳として問うことの意味、c)ソクラテスの対話の特性に関して考察を行った。(2)これらの『国家』篇第一巻に関する知見を初期対話篇から中期対話篇における展開のうちに位置づけるため、初期対話篇群の最後に位置する(すなわち『国家』篇のほぼ直前に位置すると考えられている)『メノン』篇の分析を行った。換言すれば、本研究の基盤であった初期対話篇における「何であるか」の問いに関する知見との関連を、「術の類比」と語りの関係という観点に即して考察し、第一巻に関して得た知見を検証した。以上の2項目についての研究の結果、『国家』篇第一巻は、これまで考えられてきたような「対話篇の序曲」等ではなく、むしろ、初期対話篇群全体を締めくくるものとして「語り」の問題を提出しており、それ故に、『国家』篇という「中期」対話篇を語り出す「場」を導き出し得たということが明らかになった。しかし同時に、「「問いと答え」を語る語り(logos)の異なりに着目したソクラテスの探求の営みの構造の解明」は、初期対話篇群全体に関わる形での考察を要請し、『国家』篇第一巻及び『メノン』篇のみの分析では不十分であることも明らかになり、次なる研究への課題として残されることとなった。
