家族の形成過程(結婚・出産)のありようは、妻・母親である女性個人の職業経歴の展開の規定要因として作用している。いわゆるM字型就業といわれる「中断再就職」パターンの職業経歴は、女性固有のものであり、また高度経済成長と呼応して一般化してきた。一方で近年わが国では「結婚退職」から「出産退職」へと職業経歴の中断スタイルに変化が生じていることも指摘されている。本研究は、ライフコースの視点から、家族の形成過程と女性の職業経歴の展開の過程を実証的に考察するものである。家族役割と職業役割の移行にみられる共時性に着目し、確率論的にそのメカニズムを説明することを目的とする。4種の調査研究データ(「昭和期を生きた人びと」データ、「成人前期の役割移行調査」データ、 「がらだ・こころ・つながりの発達研究」データ、「サラリーマンの仕事と家庭」データ)から1914-71年出生コーホート女性のイベントヒストリーデータを再構成し、イベントヒストリー分析を行った。具体的には、(1)移行の共時性は高度経済成長期以降、強化した(出生コーホート間比較)、(2)移行の共時性の方向性は、家族役割移行から職業役割移行へと作用する(家族役割の経過時間と職業中断の発生率の関連性-半マルコフ仮説)、(3)移行の共時性は、それ以前の個人の属性(状態)からの規定を受ける(マルコフ仮説)を検証した。研究成果は、研究成果報告書「家族形成過程と女性の就業中断に関する研究」において、(1)1914-71出生女性の職業キャリア・パターンのコーホート比較、(2)就業中断タイミングに関するイベントヒストリー分析の2部構成でまとめ、平成11年4月末刊行の予定である。
