今年度に行なった研究を以下、摘書する。一つには、昨年度迄に調査した(1)山口豊山(東都掃墓会幹事)『夢跡集』ならびに草稿類、(2)化蝶庵主『東京墓碑銘集覧』全5巻、(3)赤沼伍八郎『赤沼掃墓録』全28巻、(4)坂田諸遠『野辺夕露』等の写本を基礎データとして、近世近代作家別に整理を加え、今日知られるところの伝記資料との照合を行った。かつそうした整理を加えたデータをもとに、今年度は東京(特に浅草寺周辺)を中心に実地調査をし、何らかの資料(例えば墓碑)が現存する場合、写真撮影をしての情報収集を行った。現在その整理を行っている。また新たな資料収集としては、昨年度蒐集対象とした東京(江戸)や大阪(上方)以外の地域、具体的には四国の情報収集につとめた。近世後期から明治にかけて、戯作者や文人たちの門人たちは意外に多く地域的な広がりをもって分布している。特に幕末期に活躍した戯作者も、晩年には地元に戻って教科書や郷土史に名を残している人物が少なくない。その足跡ならびに伝記的資料蒐集につとめ、先に得た資料との照合を行った。さらに、内務省「史蹟調査会」、徳川頼倫の「史蹟名勝天然物保存協会」、「東都掃墓会」、大槻如電他の「探墓会」、磯ヶ谷紫江「墓碑史蹟研究」など、〈掃墓〉に関わる一群ならびに刊行物の調査を通じ、その中に引用された書物・雑誌(たとえば「見ぬ世の友」)などにも目を向け調査した。また「あふひ」など明治・大正期の雑誌群の「彙報」欄を中心とし、掃墓関連記事の調査も行った。現在、明治期の雑誌目録を集成したリファレンス・ツールも存在するが、残念ながら「彙報」欄の記載内容全てに渉って確認できる状態にない。国会図書館等で「彙報」欄を中心に調査を行い、情報蒐集につとめた。その中には掲載記事に対する読者の意見や修正記事も見出すことができ、多くの誤認を訂正できたことを附記しておく。
