本研究の目的は、スポーツ競技場面における様々な情報に対する各個人の志向性(情報志向性)の様相、及び、その情報志向性がスポーツ経験・行動とどのように関係しているのかを明らかにすることであった。今年度(平成11年度)は、情報志向性尺度を完成させるとともに、この尺度より導き出される情報志向スタイルと他の個人変数との関係を分析して、情報志向性がスポーツ経験や個人特性によりどのように規定されているのか、また、どのようなスポーツ行動に影響を及ぼしているのかを検討した。情報志向性尺度の作成については、因子分析により「相手選手」「自分」「外界」などの因子を抽出し、9下位尺度から構成される尺度を完成させた。続いて、各個人の情報志向スタイルの規定因を明らかにするために、種目経験や、注意スタイル、心理的競技能力などの特性との関係を分析した。その結果、最も多く経験したスポーツ種目が個人種目であるか集団種目であるか、あるいは、球技種目であるかそうでないかによって情報志向スタイルが異なっていること、また、注意スタイルや心理的競技能力の各下位尺度が、それぞれ、異なる情報志向スタイルと関連していることが明らかになった。これらの結果より、情報志向性は特定の経験や個人特性に規定されていることが示唆された。一方、情報志向性がスポーツ行動にどのように影響を及ぼしているのかを検討するために、攻撃-守備志向性、及び、スポーツ競技社会的スキルとの関係を分析した。その結果、情報志向スタイルと攻撃-守備志向との関係は認められなかったが、スポーツ競技社会的スキルとの関係については、社会的スキルの各下位因子が特定の情報志向スタイルと結びついていることが明らかになり、情報志向スタイルの違いがスポーツ競技場面での社会的行動の違いを生み出している可能性が示唆された。
