项目摘要

最終年度である本年度は、昨年度作成したデータベースから、利用可能な統計モデルの検討を行った。ある人が「初めて職業に就いた時点」、「職種」を主要な独立変数とし、「勤続年数」に与える影響について、生存時間分析モデルの応用を試みた。本研究で明らかになったのは、戦後半世紀の間に日本社会では雇用の長期化が、着実に進行してきたという点である。このことは先行研究でも一部明らかにされていたことではあるが、網羅的なデータで追跡できたことは意義深い。ただし、次の点は改めて強調しておくべきであろう。同一就業先における職歴の継続に対して、戦争が社会全体に与える影響は、プラスであるともマイナスであるとも判断できないということである。長期雇用は、社会階層ごと(あるいは階層間)の移動として、操作的な記述、分析が可能である。SSM調査は、1955年以来10年おきに継続的に実施され、ミクロレベルでの移動を把握することができるほとんど唯一のデータである。しかしSSM調査には、サンプル数が少ないため統計的な有意さを確保するには不利な点を否定できない。言うまでもなく、今後データの信頼性向上のために必要なのは、サンプル数を増やすことである。社会調査にはやり直しがきかない。データ収集が可能な過去の範囲は、どの調査時点であろうとも限られいる。日本人の平均寿命が、現在の水準のまま推移していくなら、観測可能なのは60年前までである。それ以前の過去は地平線の向こうにある。現時点では戦時期に相当する。技術的に可能なことは速やかに着手しなくては、1940年当時の計量分析は不可能となる。さらに出版物等で公表されている統計のもとになった資料が適切に再利用できるよう、個票レベルまでさかのぼることが可能なデータについては、関係諸機関の協力を前提とした組織的な研究が望まれる。
