平成12年度は、まず、昨年度に収集した資料を整理する中、補足確認が必要となった。とくに戦前、日本統治時代における調査研究事例を再確認し、所在確認を行いながら、文献目録を作成した。その中で、台湾における研究において、原住民の物質文化に関する民族学的考察が進められていることを重視し、とくに生産工具の使用例に関する知見を得るために、関連する文献の再確認を行った。また、中央研究院歴史語言研究所が刊行した『中国南海地区考古研究相関書目』(陳仲玉主編1996)など既存の文献目録と照らしあわし、未確認の文献の把握に努めた。次に、比較検討の前提となる、台湾海峡両岸地域の時期編年の検討を行った。出土遺物の検討については、生産工具である石器(片刃石斧など)を中心に検討を進めた。そこでは貝塚遺跡の利点を考慮して、貝製品や骨角製品を抽出しながら、石器との比較も合わせてを行った。そして、一地域内における貝塚遺跡の出現と展開を考える上で、とくに、大陸側では福建沿岸、珠江三角州、さらに澎湖諸島の調査内容を整理した。まず、遺跡地名表を再確認し、出土遺物についても地域単位、遺跡単位の比較検討を試みた。こうした資料整理と検討を踏まえ、中国厦門大学に赴き、東南中国各地で調査研究を実施している考古学者と意見交換及び最新情報の収集を行い、本研究課題の学術的意義を再確認すると同時に、今後の課題を整理することができた。
