沖縄の一集落出身者を対象にしたこれまでの集中的フィールド研究の成果によれば、芋づる式の出郷過程や移動先での集住傾向、特定の職業への集中、同郷人会の組織化過程など、出移民たちはそれまで生きてきた共同性を単純に解体させたというよりも、あらたな状況に耐え得るような形に編み直していったとみなした方が正確と思われる。そこで本研究では「共同性の再編」という観点から沖縄出身者の移動と定着の過程を捉えることの妥当性について、他集落の動向を調査することで検討を試みた。具体的には、大阪市の大正、西成の両港湾地区を舞台に同郷人ネットワークを編んできた本島北部出身者(名護市および今帰仁村の各集落出身者)を対象にした。これまでの調査経験をふまえて、それぞれの同郷人組織の中心的人物を起点にして各ネットワークをたどるという調査スタイルを踏襲し、それぞれのライフストーリーの聞きとり作業を中心に据えた。本年度は、名護市羽地地区(旧羽地村)およびその出身者が集住する大阪市大正区をフィールドに調査を実施した。・2000年8月〜9月の一カ月間:羽地地区の各集落において国外移民や本土出稼ぎの経緯と傾向を把握する資料収集とそれぞれの体験者を対象に聞きとり調査をおこなった。・2000年10月〜12月において数次:大阪市大正区において、旧羽地村出身者を対象にした面接調査と資料収集を進めた。調査対象者は、上記各集落の同郷人組織(同志会)、大阪羽地郷友会の構成員。現在、両調査で得られたライフストーリーの整理を進めており、それらの考察をふまえて今後さらに調査研究を深める予定である。
