项目摘要

本研究は、地域の根ともいえるような場所で執り行われる伝統行事の継承実践に注目する。沖縄島本部町内で実施してきたこれまでのフィールド研究の成果をふまえ、伝統行事（年中祭祀）の現況に関してタイプの異なる6つ程度の集落を選定した。参与観察とインタビューによる実態把握と相互比較の作業をとおして、現在まで受け継がれてきた行事を後世につなげようとする諸活動が個人やコミュニティレベルに及ぼす影響について考察する。また、地域コミュニティの再生という今日的課題に取り組む際に、地域共用の場所（コモンズ）での住民参加の取り組みが地域の共同性を育むという観点が重要なことを示したい。なお、本研究でとくに着目するコモンズは、地域の豊作豊漁や住民の安寧を祈願するための聖なる場所である。研究期間の4年目にあたる2022年度は、過去2年間と同様に、調査地である沖縄県においても新型コロナウィルス感染拡大の影響を繰り返し受け、現地調査は限定的な実施とならざるをえなかった。そのため、これまでの研究実績を最も活かすことのできる備瀬集落に絞って行事場面の参与観察と聞きとりを継続した。なお、研究期間については1年間の延長を申請し、認められた。現地調査が十分に展開できないなかで、これまでの成果のとりまとめを進めた。とくに、本研究の対象集落の一つである備瀬集落の出身者を対象にした長年の研究成果をまとめ、『都市で故郷を編む―沖縄・シマからの移動と回帰』（東京大学出版会）として刊行した。近代の変動期に出郷した人びとは、シマ（集落）のつながりを頼りにしながら移動先の状況に応じてあらたな共同のかたちを編み出しながら生活を立ててきた。本書では、その過程を個々人のライフサイクルと時代史を交叉させながら記述し、共同性の生成という観点から考察した。近年の伝統行事の動向をふまえるなど、本研究課題の成果が大いに活用されている。
