项目摘要

就労からの引退によって社会的役割が大きく変化する退職世代、および身体能力の低下により社会的役割が大きく変化する後期高齢者の2群を対象として、(1)社会貢献・生産的活動の実態の把握、(2)社会貢献・生産的活動を促進・阻害する要因の解明、(3)社会貢献・生産的活動とWell-Beingとの関係性を解明することを目的として調査を行った結果、以下の知見を得た。1)退職世代における結果:(1)実態:就労から引退する前は約15%、引退後では約25%の人が、週に多少なりとも奉仕・ボランティア活動を行っており、その内容としては「清掃などの環境整備」「地域活動の世話役、手伝い」といった身近なところでできる活動が多かった。仕事を引退する前から多少なりとも奉仕・ボランティア活動をやっていた人は、引退後さらに活動を多くするようになるが、引退前にやっていなかった人は、職業から引退したからといって奉仕・ボランティア活動をはじめるようになるわけではなかった。(2)規定要因:引退前の男性では、年齢が高い、学歴が高い、居住年数が長い、家族などに対する無償労働を行う時間が長いといった要因が、引退後の男性では、年齢の他に居住地の都市規模が小さいことが、奉仕・ボランティア活動への参加を促進した。(3)心理面への影響:男性では引退前および引退後のいずれにおいても奉仕・ボランティア活動を行うことが自尊感情を高める効果を示し、女性では引退前の女性において、有償労働に加えて家族・親族に対する無償労働も多くこなしている人ほど自尊感情が高いという多重役割のプラス効果がみられた。2)後期高齢者における結果:(1)実態:有償労働やボランティア活動に従事していた人は70歳以上では2割程度であったが、家庭内の無償労働を加味すると8割の人が何らかの社会貢献を行っていた。活動の種類によって性差や年齢差があったが、総合的にみると70歳代の女性が最も社会貢献の遂行時間が多かった。(2)規定要因:年齢や健康状態は男女ともすべての活動の規定要因となっていたが、社会的な要因は、活動の種類や性別によって関連の仕方が異なり、男性では、有償労働は経済状態と同居者数が、無償労働は配偶者の有無、同居者数、学歴が、他人への支援提供は学歴が関連を示した。女性では、有償労働は経済状態が、無償労働は配偶者の有無、同居者数、経済状態が、他人への支援提供は経済状態が関連を示した。(3)心理面への影響:有償労働は男性の心理面に有益で、他人への支援提供は男女とも心理面に有益であったが、家庭内の無償労働は男女とも心理面にマイナスの影響を及ぼしていた。効果の現われ方の男女差は、性役割規範などが影響した結果と考えられる。
