シベリア・ヤクーチア先住民の社会経済的戦略を、土地の私的利用・所有に関する法制度の展開をふまえつつ、多面的な自然資源利用の観点から社会人類学的に解明することを目指したのが本研究である。狩猟牧畜民である彼等の重層的自然資源利用と土地所有の関係性を理解するため、本年度は、(1)土地および家畜の所有観に関する民族誌資料を新たに収集する一方で、(2)前年度までに集めた資料を含めて、ヤクーチア先住民社会における土地および民族自然観に対する民族誌事例が導き出せる理論的可能性を検討した。これは特に先住民資源管理論・民俗自然知識論といった領域に関わるものである。(3)同時に彼等の自然観・資源利用の実践を支える民俗知識と近年のヤクーチア社会の民族政治状況との関わり--特に近年の民俗宗教復興との関係--について研究をすすめた。その結果は、日本語・英文双方で出版されつつあり、研究発表欄に載せたとおりである。研究実施状況は下記の通りである。5月16日〜20日にかけてカナダ・ケベックで開かれた第4回国際極北社会科学会議(ICASS)で、前年度までの成果を発表した。その後、国立自然史博物館(アメリカ合衆国ワシントンD.C.)の極北研究センターで資料収集を行う一方で、同所に勤務するI.クループニック教授と面談し、筆者の調査及び理論研究について助言を受けた。さらに6月中旬から7月初頭にかけての3週間、ロシア連邦サハ共和国で民族誌的調査を行った。ここでは主として先住民サハ人の伝統的儀礼馬乳酒祭に対して参与観察を行い、民俗自然観および土地所有観念に関する資料を収集するとともに、これらの儀礼が今日の民族政治状況のなかでもつ意味づけについて調査を行った。また大阪にある国立民族学博物館、網走市にある北方民族博物館において資料収集を行った。
