「3次元球体の中の結び目」のトーラスによる「ソリッドトーラスとその中の1本の自明アーク」のタングルペア2つへの分解を種数1橋数1分解と呼び、そういう分解を持つ結び目を種数1橋数1結び目と呼ぶ。東京農工大学の合田洋氏とともに、種数1橋数1結び目の外部の種数2のヒーガード分解を研究した。その結果はプレプリント「Genus two Heegaard splittings of exteriors of 1-genus 1-bridge knots」にまとめた。ダブルトーラス結び目とは、3次元多様体のヒーガード分解を与えるダブルトーラスの上にのる結び目のことをいう。ある種のダブルトーラス結び目に沿ったデーン手術はレンズ空間を産み出すことが知られている。ダブルトーラス結び目は多くの例外的デーン手術を持つ結び目のクラスであり、興味深い。上記の種数1橋数1結び目もダブルトーラス結び目の一種である。ダブルトーラス結び目がいつ自明結び目であるか、ダブルトーラスを境界とするハンドルボディ2つの中のメリディアン・ディスクの言葉で必要十分条件を求めた。その結果はプレプリント「Trivial double-torus knots」にまとめた。さらに、学習院大学の平澤美可三氏とともに、ダブルトーラス結び目がいつトーラス結び目であるかを考え、ほぼ解決した。現在論文を執筆中である。また、ダブルトーラス結び目がいつ橋数2結び目であるかを考えるための構想ができており、3つの場合分けのうちの1つが解決している。
