CDMA無線セルラーネットワークでは、端末が同時に複数の基地局と通信を行なうソフトハンドオフが可能であり、伝送品質の向上やシステムの容量を増加させることができる。その一方で、ソフトハンドオフによりネットワークの有線部分の付加が増加するため、その影響を明らかにすることが重要である。本研究では、昨年度は回線交換系のシステムを対象として、ソフトハンドオフによって、有線部分の性能尺度である呼損率やハンドオフ時の強制切断率、および無線回線の品質に関して統合的に評価を行なう手法を提案した。本年度は、CDMA上でパケット通信を行なう場合を想定し、上位のトランスポート層プロトコルとしてTCP(Transmission Control Protocol)を適用した場合に、ソフトハンドオフの程度によってTCPのスループットがどのように影響を受けるかを明らかにすることができた。対象とするセルラーネットワークを、ネットワークシミュレータns-2上でモデル化し、シミュレーションによって評価を行なった結果、ネットワーク中で静止している端末に関しては、ネットワークに対する負荷が小さい場合には、ソフトハンドオフによる無線品質の向上の効果で、TCPスループットが大きくなった。しかしながら、負荷が大きくなるにつれ、干渉電力の増大の影響が大きくなるため、ソフトハンドオフを行なうほどTCPスループットが小さくなることが明らかになった。さらに、移動して通信中にハンドオフを行なった端末では、ソフトハンドオフによってコネクションの中断を回避できるため、スループットの低下を抑えることができることが示された。
