マルチメディア移動体通信に適した帯域割り当て方式に関して、平成16年度は次の2つの課題について研究を行った。1.ソフトハンドオフ環での不均一トラヒック下における帯域割り当て方式の性能評価昨年度の研究により,ソフトハンドオフ環境における,通信切断を低減できる帯域割り当て方式を明らかにした.しかしながらこれらの研究では,セル毎の呼の発生割合や端末の移動方向特性を,全てランダムで均一であると仮定していた.実際の通信環境では,場所によりユーザ密度も異なり,呼の発生割合も均一ではない.また端末が集中的に目的地とする場所も多く存在する.そこで本研究では,ソフトハンドオフ環境において不均一トラヒックでのハンドオフ呼の切断を小さくする帯域割り当て方式を提案した.端末からの発呼を受け帯域割り当てが行われると,帯域を割り当てた基地局とその端末が存在するセルの情報から,端末密度の高いセルを推測し,そのセルにいる端末の接続基地局を比較的空いているところへ変更させる.計算機シミュレーションによる性能評価の結果,提案方式を用いない場合と比較して呼切断率を低減することができた.2.垂直ハンドオフを用いたハイブリッド型帯域割り当て方式に関する性能評価端末の物理的な移動に対して接続基地局が切り替わるハンドオフに対して,無線アクセス方式の違いなどにより範囲が異なるセルの基地局を,端末が移動することなく切り替わることを垂直ハンドオフと呼ぶ.本研究では垂直ハンドオフの考えを応用し,従来のセルラーネットワークの各セルから一部の周波数を提供させ,この周波数を使って広域のセルを構築した.そして端末の移動方向や帯域の使用状況に応じて,通常のセルと広域のセル間のハンドオフを行わせる方式を提案した.その結果,端末の発生頻度や移動特性に偏りがある不均一トラヒックでは,広域セルの帯域が有効に利用され全体として特性が改善されること計算機シミュレーションにより示した.
