従来、情報検索に関する研究分野においては、主に大規模な文書データベースに対する検索技術の精度や効率が中心に議論されてきた。これらは重要な観点であるが、検索結果をユーザに効果的に提示する機能(以下、情報検索支援技術)が不可欠であるにも関わらず、これまで充分に検討されてこなかったと思われる。本研究では、以下の二つの観点から情報検索支援技術について検討を実施した。(1)文書検索における大量の検索結果を対象とした対話的クラスタリングによって、検索結果のユーザ提示機能を改善することを目的とした新たな方式を提案した。ユーザが検索結果のブラウジングを行う過程において漸次的に拡張・洗練化されたクエリの情報をクラスタリングにおける分類視点と見なし、それを活用することでユーザの興味を反映した適応的な文書クラスタリング方式を提案した。更に、提案手法をWWWサーチエンジンの試作システムに適用し、実験による評価を行うことで、その有効性を確認した。(2)WWW上に分散する図書情報を対象として、自動編集に基づいた活用支援方式を提案した。提案する方式は、利用者が示した図書に関するWWWコンテンツを特定し、自動編集を施した上で利用者に対して適切に提示するものである。ここで、自動編集とは、該当部分の切り出し、フィルタリング、ランキングなどにより、WWWコンテンツを自動的に整形した上でユーザに提示する処理を指す。目録データベースと連携した試作システムを構築し、それを用いた実験に基づいて提案方式の有効性を確認した。

This section is automatically edited and processed according to the instructions of the user. To confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method, the author tries to construct a new method of communication.
