项目摘要

平成14年度における文献調査の概要は、以下の通りである。明治12年から20年までに刊行された読本や文法・漢文・綴方・習字関係の文献調査、及びそれらの分析・検討を行った。主たる文献は、以下のものであった。明治12年→『島田一郎梅雨日記初〜五編』(岡本起泉)、『棧雲峡兩日記并詩草』(竹添光鴻)、『小学文法書巻之一〜三』(中島操編)、『文章規範続々4巻』(張〓撰)、『開化用文日用必携』(西野古海)、『開化初学用文』(青木輔清)明治13年→『文章規範評林字義註解正1〜7巻』(謝枋得編)、『文章規範評林字義註解続1〜7巻』(鄒守益編)明治14年→『小学日本文典巻上・下』(大槻修二)、『小学日本文典入門巻之1』(林甕臣)、『文章叢話巻上・中・下』(結城顕彦)、『や万登文範』(小野田孝吾)「文学的・紀行的」日記が散見されたことは収穫であった。長編が多く、解読という基礎作業に時間がかかり、日記文の指導に直接つながるような記述内容を今のところは見つけるにいたっていない。この範囲内で検討したところ、明治8年から23年までは、日記文の指導論を生むまでの胎動的段階として位置付けられると考えられる。やはりこの時期には、定義文・論説文・記事文・叙事文などを書くこと、つまり記録していく文体が重んじられたのである。この点をして、日記文の指導論を生むまでの胎動的段階と捉えたのである。
