歴史的なバウハウス運動から派生する業績には、今日的な映像表現の基礎理論としても可能性が認識できる。特に、「映像メディア表現」における今日的な新しい表現様式としての「VJ」(ヴィジュアル・ジョッキー)は、映像のリアルタイムの生成という点で、これまでとは違った表現の可能性を示している。ドイツにおいては、バウハウスの理念を継承するバウハウス大学ヴァイマールがVJ研究を始めており、関連して、2004年夏に「コンタクトヨーロッパ・VJフェスティバル2004」がベルリンにて開催されている。このイベントは、ヨーロッパ地区のVJシーンの情報交換の場であるとともに、「VJing」(VJ活動)の行方を示すものであり、映像を扱う芸術の新しい形式としてVJを捉えるという試みとなった。このような動向の調査によって、バウハウス理念の継承と研究課題の有効性を実証した。また、モーション表現の美的構造に関する考察については、VJによる表現活動(映像演出)を中心に実施した。そのVJingを成り立たせている重要な美的構造は、「光」、「運動」、「音楽」、「対話性」、そして「同時性」であることを確認し、その作品のあり方は、編集済みの映像作品として固定されるものではなく、その場、その時の状況にVJが「身体性」を伴いつつ反応し、映像のモーション表現を操作するという「パフォーマンス」として認識できることを結論づけた。映像表現においても、その美を織りなす構造は、ライブでの操作性が関与しており、即興的な音楽と同様に、ライブ感、インタラクティブ、リアルタイムという観点が重要になってくることを示唆した。映像表現の実践的な取り組みの成果としては、地域のマルチメディア産業の振興と人材育成を目的にした岩手県の「デジタル・イーハトーヴ・グランプリ」審査発表会・記念講演会(2004年12月4日)の場でVJ活動の実演を行ったことが主なものである。
