项目摘要

平成16年度は、フランス・スピリチュアリスムにおけるジュフロワの思想史的な位置を見定めるべく、その美学的共感論がベルクソンの直観論に継承され展開されてゐることを確認した。すなはち、ジュフロワ的共感とベルクソン的直観とは、<主観の客観への移入>といふ共通の契機をもつが、前者に固有の<主観における客観の反復>といふ映発的契機は、後者において<主観の拡張による客観との一致>といふ参与的契機に代替され更新されたのである。この革新は、形而上学的なアナロジーに訴へながら心身の分離を<緊張-弛緩>関係によつて連結するもので、二元論を克服しようとするフランス・スピリチュアリスムの一大結論と看做すことができる。ジュフロワの果たしえなかつた近代の超克は、ここでベルクソンによつて解決の端緒が開かれた。それが日本の西田幾多郎に大きな影響を与へた点である。西田の『日本文化の問題』(講演1938年、著作1940年)に見られるベルクソンへのアンビヴァレンスを検討すると、西田は「我々が物となつて考へ物となつて行ふ立場」に通じるものとしてベルクソンの直観論に賛同する一方で、「円環的」にではなく「直線的」に時間を表象するその持続論には不満をおぼえ、そこから「絶対矛盾的自己同一」といふ自らの立場を切り拓いてゐる(詳細は2004年8月10日の日韓美学研究会にて英語で発表した)。ここに窺はれるやうな日本の近代化における「文化的ナショナリズム」の問題は、一般にドイツ観念論に対抗したフランス・スピリチュアリスムに先例が見られるもので、先行する哲学思想の受容のみならず異文化に触れる藝術や宗教の具体的変容に徴しても広く確認される。この問題は、日仏の近代が共通に抱へた未解決の課題として、今後の更なる考究を必要とするものである。
