项目摘要

本研究では次の2つの方法によってCIO(Chief Information Officer)の役割に関するデータを収集し、それらに基づいて仮説検証とモデル化を行った。一つは大手企業に所属する22名のCIOに対するインタビューを行った。もう一つはCIOを評価できる立場にある情報システム部門及びユーザ部門に所属する主に大手企業に所属する社員、それぞれ309人を対象としたアンケートを行った。主な結果として(大手日本企業に属し、ジネスイノベーションに関心のあるCIOについて)次の3つが得られた。・CIOは企業において、i)ITの目的をビジネスイノベーションに仕向けること、ii)ITによるビジネスの変革、それに iii)ビジネスイノベーションを企業の成長に貢献させることにポジティブなインパクトを与えている。特にCIOが単に役員としてのポジションにあるだけでなく実際にCIOとして機能している場合にその傾向が強い・ビジネスイノベーションにおけるCIOの役割は、情報システム領域においてのみ変革を担うEnablerから、情報システム領域とビジネス領域の両方で変革を担うDriver、戦略に携わるStrategistへと移行する傾向が見られる・その中で当該CIOはStrategistの役割に属するというCIOが最も多いまた新たに、CIOは個々のビジネスイノベーションだけに責任を持つのではなく、そのイノベーションの基盤にまで関わるChief Innovation Officerの役割にも関わろうとしているという仮説が提示されている。これらの結果は、11.研究発表の項に記載した"CIO Roles in Business Innovation“(APCIM2009)等において発表されている。
