项目摘要

生態データ、とくに野外でのそれは、空間的な相互依存性や不均一性、個体差などの特徴を持つだめ、当然考慮すべきと考えられる効果をフルに組み込んだ統計的なデータ解析は純然たる実験的な場合を除けば容易ではなく、実際には近似的な単純化された解析が行なわれるのが普通であった。本研究では、とくに生態データの解析のためのベイズモデルや神経回路網モデル、擬似尤度モデルなどを開発した、従来の方法では推定できなかった構造や機能を観測データから抽出することに成功した。林冠構造の三次元構造をMCMC(マルコフ連鎖モンテカルロ)法により推定する方法を開発したのをはじめ、階層ベイズモデルにより植物の親個体との空間的な位置関係および親個体による生存率のちがいや種子散布パターンの個体差などを考慮しての空間的な遺伝的構造の分析、動物の攻撃的行動を階層ベイズモデルや学習を伴う現象を扱うための神経回路網モデルで扱った分析などを行なった。また、これらの方法が、既存の方法、たとえば伝統使われできた分散分析、重回帰分析、分割表の解析などにくらべて、現実により沿ったモデルの構築を行なっているために、当然であるはいえ、推定の偏りが小さく、現実には存在する構造や機能のあらわれを見逃すことが小さいことも示された。とくに、階層ベイズ法(とマルコフ連鎖モンテカルロ法)は、個体差、場所の差、時間的変動など、同時に複数のレベルに起因するばらつきを扱わなければいけないことの多い生態データの解析では、適用範囲が相当に広いと考えられる。
