本研究は、日本からの問題発信として西洋における「イエ」の発見をおこなう。具体的には、日本の「イエ」を構成する家業・家産・家名の継承という要素を、データの揃っているヨーロッパ各国に対比的に適用する。同時に、従来分析の「単位」として主たる位置づけをされてこなかった間「境」親族集団という家族史研究成果の結晶を、時系列的に経済生活空間分析に用いる。本年度は、前年度から新たに得られた情報にもとづき調査報告・討論を続け収斂させた。その際、関連性の深い周辺プロジェクトとの連携を図り、「イエ」という本来多角的な分析を要求される対象に種々の異なる観点から分析を心がけ、適宜追加史料調査をおこなった。国内拡大研究会および公開シンポジウムの開催を年末(京都産業大学)および海外セミナー報告前(東京)にて開催した。そこでの議論を踏まえ、昨年招へいしたR・ウォール&B・モリング博士夫妻チームとの共同で、ヨーロッパ大陸における経済史・人口史・家族史の研究蓄積の現況および資料に関する予備的な調査を実施し、国際セミナー(CAMPOP Seminar:ケンブリッジ大学地理学部人口と社会構造のための歴史研究グループ定期公開セミナー)で報告し、その報告の公刊(Continuity and Change誌:R.Wall氏はその主任編集委員)および国際学会(2010年ESSHC:ヨーロッパ社会科学史研究学会)での継続報告を強く求められている。また、本研究課題名と同名ながら、組織規模の拡大を図りつつ科研費基盤研究(一般)での申請もおこなった。なお、本研究の成果の一部として、日英村落対比研究全5巻シリーズの第1巻として下記図書(『近世日本の地域社会と共同性-近世上田領上塩尻村の総合研究1-』)をその基礎(近世村落社会の共同性を再考する:日本・西欧・アジアにおける村落社会の源を求めて)とともに年度末に刊行している。
