ヨーガ・禅定はインドの諸哲学・宗教に密接な関係のあるものであり、思想形成の基礎・基盤となっているものである。そこでヨーガ・禅定思想について、その思想構造を中心に比較研究を行った。ヨーガ・禅定を重視するものを具体的に列挙すると、ウパニシャッド、サーンキヤ学派、ヨーガ学派、原始仏教・部派仏教・大乗仏教、ジャイナ教、ヴェーダーンタ学派、パガヴァッド・ギーター、ヒンドゥー教諸聖典があり、それぞれがさらに細分することが出来る。またその他にもニヤーヤ学派、ヴァイシェーシカ学派などもヨーガと無関係のものではない。これら諸思想体系のヨーガ・禅定はそれぞれの思想体系にとって基本的な独自性を示すとともに、同時に著しい類似性・共通性ももっている。そこで各思想体系の歴史的な相互関係を顧慮しながら、その思想構図に即して、ヨーガ・禅定が構造的にどのように位置づけられているかを検討した。以上の諸思想の中で、特にヨーガ学派と仏教の思想を中心に比較検討し、併せてギーターとウパニシャッド・ヴェーダーンタ学派の構造論的特徴に注目した。ヨーガ学派と仏教との関係は従来からも指摘されているが、検討の結果、それ以上に密接な、かつ重要な、特色ある関係の存在することを明らかにすることが出来た。またギーターと大乗仏教との間の密接な関係も明らかにすることが出来た。そしてインド思想史を諸思想の交渉・交流によって織りなされるものとして考えた場合、その中でヨーガ学派とギーターの占める位置が極めて高いことを明らかにすることが出来た。

In the history of thought, the exchange of ideas was organized in the context of the study, and the position of the school of thought was extremely high.
