本研究ではまず社会的引きこもりを中心とした行動問題に関して社会的スキル訓練をおこなうため、引きこもり児のピックアップを目的として、チェック・リストを作成した。次き、作成したリストで一般児童の評定を行い、作成したリストがピックアップの資料として有効であるかを検討した。予備評定の結果を踏まえて、リストの下位項目は児童の行動特徴を評定するための状況を設定できるような具体的な下位項目からなることと、学校の教師に評定を依頼するので学校場面で観察可能な状況に関する下位項目から学成されることが条件であると考えられ、修正を加えた。修正されたリストは、1〜4学年計348名の児童に関して、担任の教師が評定をおこなった。。その結果、本リストは学校場面で、共通した行動特徴を有する一群の児童を弁別することが可能であった。しかし同時に次のような問題も生じた。顕著な問題行動は見られない社会的引きこもりの状態に関連した下位項目では、高い割合で一般児童にも該当することが明らかとなった。リストを用いた評定に適用する場合に、先行研究で挙げられている行動特徴項目は新たに項目の検討から行っていく必要があると考えられた。学年間において、発達による順序性が関連する項目が存在すると考えられた。しかし、本研究において一般児の対象を1学年から4学年にしたために、発達的順序性は必ずしも明確ではなかった。社会的スキル訓練を中心とした治療教育プロセスとの関連においては、種々の行動問題を持つ児童に関して、その行動変容とチェックされる項目の間に関連があることが確認された。特に非行など社会的相互作用に顕著な問題が指摘される場合、その傾向は顕著であった。しかし、標的行動を評定の結果から導くのは困難であり、別のアセスメントが必要であった。
