项目摘要

今年度はまずグリムにおける「二重人格」、「影」、死神などを扱ったメールヒェンを糸口として、そうした主題がさまざまのヴァリエーションとして現代に生かされている文学作品や映画を学部および大学院の授業において取り上げてきた。特にヴィーネ監督による『カリガリ博士』(1919年)、ムルナウ監督による『ノスフェラトゥー』(1921年)、フリッツ・ラング監督による『つかれはてし死神』などは、第一次世界大戦後の閉塞的状況が黙示録的なヴィジョンを通して浮き彫りにされている点で、大切な手がかりになる。こうした映像がワイマール時代以降の文学作品にも大きな影響を与えていったことが予想されるのであるが、今年度の作業はむしろ、これらの映画の成立に影響を与えたと思われる19世紀末から20世紀初頭にかけての文学および芸術作品を重点的に洗い出していくことである(例えば『カリガリ博士』における抽象的な歪んだセットと表現主義美術とのつながりが指摘されている)。「映像を通しての黙示録的イメージ」〔仮題〕についての著作を二、三年以内に完成の予定で準備しており、目下のところはできるだけ広く資料に当たっている。ある程度のめぼしがついた段階で、取り上げる作品および範囲を絞っていくつもりである。
