An epidemiologic study on risk factors of oral precancers-Case control syudy-

许多研究表明，高水平的血清β -胡萝卜素对口腔癌的发生有保护作用。然而，这种关联在口腔癌前病变的文献中尚未得到充分证明。因此，本研究的目的是在日本某城市的日本居民中显示血清类胡萝卜素水平与口腔癌前病变发生之间的关系。在3274名居民的年度健康检查中发现有口腔病变的29名居民（试验组）和120名无病变的居民（年龄和性别匹配的对照组）被纳入研究。试验组为男性白斑患者12例，女性扁平苔藓患者17例。实验组和对照组均抽取静脉血进行血清分析。男性白斑患者血清中斑蝥素和隐黄素水平明显低于对照组（p<0.05）。然而。女性扁平苔藓患者的血清营养水平无显著差异。至于其他项目，如吸烟习惯、饮酒习惯等。结果发现，病变与对照组之间没有特定的相关性。

Many studies have shown that high serum levels of beta carotene has a protective effect against the occurence of oral cancer. However, such association has not been well-documented in the literature for oral precancers. It is thus the purpose of this study to show the relationship between serum carotenoid levels and the occurrence of oral precancerous lesions in Japanese residents of a city in Japan. Twenty-nine residents who were found to have oral lesions (test group) during an annual health screening of 3,274 residents and 120 residents with no lesions (age and sex-matched control group) from the same population were included in the study. The test group consist of 12 men with leukoplakia, 17 women with lichen planus. Venous blood samples were taken from all the residents in the test and control groups for serum analysis.The serum levels of canthaxanthin and cryptoxanthin was found to be significantly lower in male leukoplakia patients as compared with the control patients (p<0.05). However.there was no siginificant difference in any of the serum nutrient levels in female lichen planus patients. With regard of other items such as smoking habit, alcohol habits ets., no specific corelation between the lesions and the controls were found.
