项目摘要

題材論的方法の社会的意義を新たに問うために、隣接領域である絵画療法的行為との関係に着目しその共通性と相違性をあらわにして、両者の関連構造を究明しようとした。美術制作は元来、浄化や癒しの作用の側面を内在させており、この点で絵画療法と共通している。相違性を明らかにするべく研究方法として選んだのは、絵画療法としてこれまで成果をあげてきた課題を、改めて題材論的方法の題材として選び健常者である学生に実践したことである。次いで、同一製作者の場合における絵画療法的スケッチと、本絵作品の関係を考察したことである。第一段階で行われた療法的スケッチによって、制作者にとっての不満感や不足感、ストレスの意味と根拠が一層顕在化された。しかし、自己世界の意味づけとしての物語は、没時間的で図式性の強い療法的スケッチによるのでは不十分で、質的に意味を担わなかった。表現の形態は美術的な操作がなされず、不完全なのである。小論では、療法的スケッチのそうした特徴を「言語的要説明性」と「造形的不完全性」という用語で言い表して概念化した。第二段階としての美術活動では、マイナス価値的感情も美的なもの(日常的利害や必要を超えた感性的快)の働きによって、作品に日常性や自己を超越するより大きな自己が現れ、それと普段の自己が二重写しになり、真実なるものとして作者によって感受され、自己刷新が行われたのである。それは美術的特質が教育的作用を発揮した事態である。絵画療法は浄化や癒しを専らとするが、題材論的方法はそれらも表現の前提として人格的な表現を行うのである。これが絵画療法と大きく異なる点で、題材論的方法に発展的な形で認められる、社会的な意義といえよう。ここに両者における教育的作用の連関が認められる。
