日本人居住者は、近年、各種の対外資産を取得・保有しているが、為替管理・資本取引規制の自由化に伴いその額も大きいものになっている。とりわけ、1980年代においては、日本の対外資本移動はアメリカの巨額の経常収支赤字の多くをファイナンスしてきた。また、日本国内の過剰貯蓄を反映して日本の対外継債権ポジションが急速に増大している。日本の対外資産ポジションに占める証券投資ポジションの比重が高いことは、その大きな特徴である。そこで、各種金融機関、機関投資家による対外資産保有の決定因を探ることは極めて重要な課題になっている。以上の点を踏まえて本研究では、次の作業を行なった。(a)日本人居住者の保有する各種対外資産ストックの月次データを収集、作成した。(b)各種対外資産のストック需要に影響を及ぼす要因として将来の期待為替レート変化率(期待要因)、為替レートのボランティリティ(リスク要因)、実質GNP(活動要因)などの月次データを作成した。(c)以上のデータを用いて、日本の対外資産需要関数を計量測定した。その際、証券投資残高、貿易信用残高(長期)、銀行借款(長期)をネット、グロスの両面からとらえた。(d)さらに、商業銀行、証券投資信託、生命保険、損害保険、簡易保険など個別の投資主体に視点を当てて、それら投資主体ごとの対外国証券投資残高の需要関数も計測した。(e)直接投資の動向に関しても分析を行なった。以上の分析から得られる結論は、日本人居住者による対外資産保有(金融資産)はおおむねポートフォリオ理論によって説明されるということである。ただし、直接投資など対外実物資産保有は、ポートフォリオ理論からだけでは説明が困難である。

In recent years, Japanese residents have been acquiring, retaining, and liberalizing various types of foreign assets for the purpose of management and capital acquisition regulations. In the 1980s, Japan's foreign capital moved away from the country's huge budget deficit. Japan's domestic debt stock reflects the rapid growth of Japan's foreign debt. The proportion of Japanese foreign assets in securities investment portfolio is relatively high, and the proportion of Japanese foreign assets in securities investment portfolio is relatively high. A variety of financial institutions, institutional investors to determine the reasons for foreign assets to be held, and other important issues The above points are discussed in this paper. (a)Japanese residents own a variety of foreign assets, such as the monthly collection and production (b)The impact of various external asset needs and factors on future expectations is the rate of change (expected factors), the rate of change (expected factors), and the number of months in which GNP(activity factors) is generated. (c)The measurement of foreign asset demand in Japan is based on the above data. (e)Direct investment trends are analyzed. The conclusion of the above analysis is that Japanese residents are not allowed to retain foreign assets (financial assets). Direct investment in foreign resources is difficult.
