In this project we highlight the advantages of task routinization. Because tasks are the core of a job, the characteristics of these tasks might also shape the experience of work for employees. Based on the episodic performance model, and considering the nature of task routinization, we expect it to lead to higher levels of well-being and performance because work on these tasks is effortless. The benefits of task routinization will be more pronounced for some individuals, and for more complex subsequent tasks. Four studies will test the proposed hypotheses. This research contributes to knowledge about the dynamics of well-being and performance by considering the sequence of tasks, and the roles of specific task characteristics.
