まず、社会システムにおいて頻繁に見受けられる、複数の意思決定主体が複数の評価規範の存在の下で決定をなす状況について考察した。特に複数の決定者間での協力が可能な場合を取り上げ、従来の協力ゲ-ム理論における特性関数形ゲ-ムを多目的の場合に拡張した特性写像形ゲ-ムを定式化し、その基本的解集合としてのコアを定義し、その性質を調べた。つぎに、地域計画問題のように、複数の競合する意思決定者とそれらの調停仲裁者とが階層をなすような階層的多目的意思決定問題を考え、その意思決定支援対話型手法を提案した。階層的問題の場合、上位の目的関数が陽な形で表現されておらず、微分可能性なども保証されないことから、従来の数理計画的手法の適用には限界がある。そこで、近年注目を集めている遺伝的アルゴリズムをε制約法によるパレ-ト最適解探索に利用した対話型手法を考案した。さらには、多目的意思決定問題そのものを遺伝子アルゴリズムの対象としてとらえ、その評価のステップに計算機によるパレ-ト最適性に基づく評価と、意思決定者との対話による彼の選好情報に基づく評価の双方を有効に組み込んだ新たな対話型手法を提案し、その計算機ソフトウェアを作成した。さらには、ゲ-ム的状況における不確実要素の変動に対する解の感度解析について考察し、特に基本的な双行列ゲ-ムについて陰関数定理に基づく有用な理論的結果と計算ソフトウェアを得た。この結果は、決定における情報の価値とも関連を持つものである。
