Photobionts were isolated from Cladia aggregata collected from some districts in Japan. From one podetium of Cladia aggregata collected from Kagoshima and Hiroshima, three species of photobionts were isolated. From podetia collected from other districts in Japan, one to two photobionts were isolated. They were Trebouxia erici, T.glomerata and T.pyriformis. As the results, the diversity of photobiont in Cladia aggregata was became clear at the first. The existence of three species of photobionts in only one podetium was newly found in the world. The distribution of photobionts in one podetium was uniform. By the tissue culture of Cladia aggregata, small thallus-like filaments were formed from some callus after one year on Malt-Yeast medium. Spores of mycobiont isolated from apotecia of Cladia aggregta were cultured and deposited in laboratory. They were used in resynthesis of Cladia aggregata in near future. The experiment of resynthesis is very important to make clear the diversity of photobionts in Cladia aggregata.
