The analysis of relationships among the sky view-factor calculated from a fish eye lens image, surface albedo and temperature inferred from satellite data

The present study developed the systems both for calculating the sky view-factor from a fish-eye lens image and for inferring the surface albedo from LANDSAT/MSS data, and applied them to investigation of the relationships between the distributions of the sky view-factor and surface albedo in the Takada area, Niigata Prefecture, Central Japan. As a result, it was shown that there is a trend toward lower surface albedo with decreasing sky view-factor, and that the surface temperature is higher in the urbanized area with smaller sky view-factor and lower surface albedo. These facts suggests that the decrease in the sky view-factor due to urbanization results to occurrence of urban heat island.
