With increasing consumption of fuel in an artificial satellite reaction control system, the high pressure tank of conventional pressurized-gas feed type fuel supply system has increased in size and weight. In the previous work, we proposed a new type fuel pump system with linear motor propulsion, inwhich two pumps were equipped on both sides of a linear motor and resonant system with springs was organized to decrease the rated thrust. The aim of this research is to develop the light weight and small size linear motor most suitable for the quick reciprocating motion use and investigate the optimum control strategy.Principal results obtined by this work are as follows ;1. For studying the motion control, we install a new experimental apparatus consisted of a linear pulse motor (LPM), a driver and measurement devices such as position sensor and thrust sensor. It is confirmed experimentally that the LPM reciprocates as instructed. After adding the regenerative braking function to the driver, we will decide the best combinations of the spring constant, the rated thrust, the stroke and the resonance frequency in the spring-mass resonance system and investigate the optimum control algorithm experimentally.2. We develop a method of optimizing the design parameters of the linear motor using nonlinear programming technique and we, moreover, apply the multi-objective programming technique to the optimization program. We design and produce a small-sized single sided linear induction motor by use of the optimization program. Now, we have been improving the inverter system for studying the vector control.3. We research the design method and analytical method for linear direct current motors. Now, we are making the optimization program.
