この研究は,南アジア諸国と日本との投資・貿易構造を分析し,南アジアと日本の将来の国際分業構造を予測することを目的とした実証研究である.我々は,まず,OECDのSITC5桁の貿易細分類データを,日本とアメリカについて抽出し,これを47産業分類に統合した.この47分類のやり方は,阿部の「日米の産業内貿易」などでとられたものである.この分類に従って,貿易のあり方が,グルーベル=ロイド指標を計算して,垂直貿易型であることを,そして東南アジアと比べると明らかな違いがあることを示した.次にどの分野に日本からの直接投資が南アジアに行ったかを,東洋経済の『海外進出企業総覧』のデータを抽出して,この47分野別に時系列で分析した.東南アジアの場合と同じように,産業内分業の進展や,新しい比較優位産業の進展は,日本からの直接投資の動きに大きく左右されていることが統計数値で示せた.東アジアから東南アジアへ,そして中国・ベトナムとともに,南アジア諸国へと世界の資本が流れ,かつその比較優位構造も,東アジアから,東南アジアへと,そして南アジアへと,労働集約財の比較優位が移行している.上記に述べた事実は大量のデータを要約する形で,すでに分析を終えている.こうした統計分析を基礎に,東アジア,東南アジア,南アジアを含めた,いわゆる「雁行形態論」を中心においたマクロ計量モデルを,現在,作成の途上にある.完成は1-2カ月後を予定している.同時進行の関連研究で「日本の製品輸入をめぐって」では,アジアからの製品輸入比率のまだまだ低いことを指摘したが,その中身が,すでに韓国・台湾・シンガポールなどは,欧米との構造に近づきつつあるが,マレーシア・インドネシアなどは少し遅れ,南アジアの場合ははるかに遅れていることが実証できた.
