加齡と作業能力との関係について考えるため、課題としてワープロ作業を念頭においたキーボードからの入力作業(課題1)を設定した。高年齢者にとって、比較的なじみの薄い課題と考えられるこのキ-入力作業遂行行動と、これまで続けてきた組立作業(課題2)における行動とを比較することから、高年齢者の行動特性を明らかにする。課題1に関しては、被験者の到達技能レベルに、高年・若年の両群間できわめて大きな違いがみられたと同時に、習熟プロセスや入力時間にも課題2よりさらに大きな個人差がみられた。その個人差は、各指の動作所要時間の違いだけでなく、入力文字を確認後、キ-入力を開始するまでの時間の長さに大きくあらわれ、高年齢者は、積極的に指を動かしてみようとする姿勢に欠けるだけでなく、意識としての作業のまとまり形成に時間を要すると考えられた。しかし、学生被験者と同じ技能レベルまで到達した高齢被験者が1名あったことから、「加齡にともなう作業行動の変化」という問題が持つ意味の複雑さも示された。動作面のさらに詳細な分析、目での確認と手の動作の時間的関係の分析が今後に残された。今回は、5人の高年齢者を被験者として実験を行い、同じく5人の若年(学生)被験者との作業行動の比較を試みた。作業動作をVTRに収録しつつ、作業経過や入力ミス、各ブロックの入力所要時間の測定に学生アルバイトを使うことができたため、実験設備の不十分な点を実験補助者でカバーすることができ、課題対応行動の詳細な比較検討を行うことができた。今後、被験者数を増やすこと、新たな課題による実験を追加することにより、さらなる成果が期待できそうである。
