次のの2点を調査研究し、概略以下の成果を得た。I 確認用法のwhatとwhoの交替とヘブライ語法の影響。成果は“The Interrogative Pronouns What and Who in English Bibles′に報告。確認用法のWhatとWhoの交替は欽定訳聖書(1611)でほぼ完全に起こり、それが引き金となってこの交替が他にも波及したというのが定説であるが、本研究ではこの交替はそれよりも以前にThe Geneva Bible(1560)ですでに起こっていること、英訳聖書におけるWhatとWhoの交替は原典のヘブライ語やラテン語訳聖書の影響であること等を明らかにした。欽定訳聖書のパラレリズム(Parallelism)の調査研究。成果は‘Parallelisms in the Hebrew Bible and their Translations in the Authorized Version'に報告。欽定訳聖書のパラレリズムには多様な形式と取っているものがあるが、それは原典のヘブライ語の影響及び翻訳によって生じたものであることを明らかにした。
