1. The quenching of the photo-excited molecules by oxygen and a time-resolved phosphorescence of singler oxygen followed by the quenching were investigated in reversed micelles of AOT/heptane/water as a function of pressure up to 400 MPa. (1) Characterization of reversed micelles at high pressure : The decay curves of luminescence of Ru (bpy) _3^<2+> in the presence of quencher (Q) , K_3Fe (CN) _6, were measured in reversed micelles. From the analysis, the aggregation number and the rate parameters were determined as a function of W_0 (=[H_2O]/[AOT]) at high pressure. (2) The oxygen quenching of sodium 1-pyrenesulfonate (PS) , tetrasodium 1,3,6,8-pyrenesulfonate (PTS) and Ru (bpy) _3^<2+> : The quenching of singlet and triplrt states of PS,and the triplet state of PTS showed a single exponential decay. On the other hand, the decay curves measured for Ru (bpy) _3^<2+> were a micelle type. From these results, it was concluded that PS and PTS are located near the interface between the oil phase and the micelle and in the water pool in the center of the micelle, respectively, and Ru (bpy) _3^<2+> resides between the interface and the water pool.in the micelle. The quenching dynamics in the micelle is discussed by assuming that oxygen molecules are in equilibrium in each phase. (3) Phosphorescence decay measurements of singlet oxygen using InGaAs pin photodiode : The decays showed single exponential decay for the use of PS and Ru (bpy) _3^<2+> as sensitizers, whereas double exponentials with rise and decay for PTS.These results support the model of the micelle described in (2).2. Experiments of the oxygen quenching and the singlet oxygen generation sensitized by pyrene and 9-acetylanthracene in SDS and CTAC micelles are continuing to obtain the final data.
