本研究は広域網を含む大規模分散処理体系の中での情報資源サーバの構成方式の提案を目的とする。具体的には、情報資源サーバ動作のモデル化、精度の良いシミュレーション、複合サーバ構成方法の提案、サーバアクセス機能の提案、等の研究を実施し、今後の実証研究の基礎をとする。1.情報資源サーバ動作のモデル化 ひとつのトポロジーのネットワークが与えられた時、その上のサーバとクライアントの挙動を解析するための数理モデル(待ち行列ネットワーク)を作成した。2.低速通信網の影響の実測 LANでは通信速度が速いため、この影響の測定が難しい。そこで、低速のシリアル回線を介して計算機を接続した場合のデータ転送遅延特性を測定した。3.複合サーバ構成の導出 以上のパラメータとシミュレーションモデルから、高速LANや広域網など各種のネットワーク構成に適合する複合サーバシステムの機能分散方法を導出する手法について検討した。4.同期制御方式 複合サーバによるサービスは検索の高速化、負荷の分散などの点で有利だが、随時発生するデータの更新の伝搬が問題を引き起こす。原理的には二相コミットプロトコルを用いることになる。これをマスタースレーブの交信に適合させる方式を考案した。5.シミュレーション 上記の数理モデルと動作パラメータに基づいて、複合サーバ構成における動作をシミュレーションし、性能解析する手法を検討した。CPU速度、ネットワーク速度、I/O転送量、アクセス頻度の四パラメータを変化させた場合のシステム挙動をアルゴリズム別に解析し、目標とするサービス規模の動作可能性を検証するものである。これは現有のワークステーション上でのシミュレーション実験で確認しつつある。
