项目摘要

(1)九州方言の代表として50地点-東九州(豊前・豊後・日向)17、西九州(筑前・筑後・肥前・肥後)18、南九州(薩摩・大隅)15-を選び、各地2名宛、計100名の被調査者につき《通信調査》を実施(3回に分けて)。またその中の25地点・50名につき《臨地調査》を実施した。(2回に分けて)。その調査内容としては、予め《音韻・アクセント・文法・語彙の各面にわたり、100項の質問項目を含む》調査票を作製した。またその方言調査及び資料整理に当っては、久留米大大学院生3名の援助を受けた。調査補助=中牧泰二、整理補助=中牧泰二・古賀澄子・占部匡美。(1. 1)方言学的調査結果による考察を文献国語史的観点から補う為、《各地図書館蔵書の調査》を実施した。国会図書館など現地調査に当ったケースが多いが、蔵書の借り出しや複写を許された場合は、そのコピーをさせて頂いた-京都大学蔵平曲譜本その他。(2)それら研究結果の或部分は既に発表し、更に詳細は逐次発表予定であるが、ここでその一部分を略述する。先ず《方言学的考察》としては、例えば《従来の定説であった肥筑方言(西九州)から筑前方言を除外すべき》事を究明した。即ち筑後・肥前・肥後はすべて一型または二型アクセントだが、筑前は筑前式アクセントであり、むしろ壱岐・対馬方言等に似ている。また文法等の面でも、筑前は、東西両九州の中間地域的性格が強い。同様にして、従来の《豊日方言、薩隅方言についても、いろいろ訂正すべき面が多い》事等を明らかにし得た。(2. 1)《文献国語史的考察》としては、例えば、仏教声明や平曲譜本等の調査により、《九州諸方言アクセントの特徴たる二類語(石・川・・・)/三類語(山・犬・・・)の区別は南北朝頃以前の中央語からの分派である》事を究明した。その他《代表的九州方言形の「良力」は中世前期中央語からの分派であり、「バッテン……バイ・受クッ」などは、近世前期中央語からの分派である》事等々、主要な九州方言的特徴の国語史的地位を考察し得た。
