项目摘要

本研究の目的は、効果的な語彙学習法に関する示唆を得るために、帰納的な語彙学習における集中学習・分散学習の効果を比較することであった。語彙学習における分散効果を調査したこれまでの研究は、いずれも演繹的学習を扱ったものであり、帰納的学習における集中学習・分散学習の効果に関しては明らかになっていない。語彙の帰納的学習が幅広く行われていることを考えると、いかにして語彙の帰納的学習を促進できるかは、研究者・教師・学習者にとって大きな課題である。以上のような理由から、本研究では帰納的語彙習得における集中学習・分散学習の効果を比較することで、効果的な語彙学習法を提案することを目指した。平成27年度は、以下の4点を行った。第１に、分散効果および帰納的な語彙学習に関する文献調査を行った。第２に、先行研究を元に実験計画を立て、実験で使用する低頻度英単語48語および英文テキスト144文を決定した。なお、英文テキストはいずれもCorpus of Contemporary American English (COCA)を元に作成した。あわせて、学習効果を測定するためのプレ・テストとポスト・テストの作成も行った。さらに、実験で使用するためのコンピュータ・プログラムの開発を行った。プログラムの開発には心理学実験ソフト E-Prime 2.0を使用した。第３に、約10人の日本人英語学習者を対象とした実験を行った。実験の結果を元に、英文テキストの難易度、コンピュータ・プログラムの操作性、プレ・テストとポスト・テストの難易度等を調整し、より規模の大きな実験を今後行う予定である。第4に、研究課題に関連した論文2本を執筆した。内1本は査読付き国際誌International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching (Walter de Gruyter)への掲載が決定した。また、雑誌「英語教育」への記事執筆、および宮城教育大学での公開講演等を通して、研究成果を広く社会・国民に発信していくことにも努めた。
